Bhagavad Gita 11.30
लेलिह्यसे ग्रसमानः समन्ताल्लोकान्समग्रान्वदनैर्ज्वलद्भिः | तेजोभिरापूर्य जगत्समग्रं भासस्तवोग्राः प्रतपन्ति विष्णो ||
lelihyase grasamānaḥ samantāl lokān samagrān vadanair jvaladbhiḥ | tejobhir āpūrya jagat samagraṁ bhāsas tavogrāḥ pratapanti viṣṇo ||
Translation
You lick all round, swallowing all the worlds on every side with your flaming mouths. Filling the whole universe with light, your terrible rays, O Vishnu, are burning fiercely.

You lick around, swallowing all the worlds on every side with flaming mouths. Filling the whole universe with your light, your terrible rays, O Vishnu, are burning everything. Lelihyase, you are licking. The continuous tense matters. This is not an event that will happen. It is what is being done now. Grasamanah, swallowing. Tejobhir apurya jagat samagram, filling the entire universe with splendour. The hot light is not localized. It is everywhere, and it is in the same gesture both feeding and consuming the worlds. Arjuna is at the limit of what description can carry. The next verse will turn from description to question. He needs to know what he is looking at.
