Bhagavad Gita 11.32
श्रीभगवानुवाच | कालोऽस्मि लोकक्षयकृत्प्रवृद्धो लोकान्समाहर्तुमिह प्रवृत्तः | ऋतेऽपि त्वां न भविष्यन्ति सर्वे येऽवस्थिताः प्रत्यनीकेषु योधाः ||
śrī-bhagavān uvāca | kālo'smi loka-kṣaya-kṛt pravṛddho lokān samāhartum iha pravṛttaḥ | ṛte'pi tvāṁ na bhaviṣyanti sarve ye'vasthitāḥ pratyanīkeṣu yodhāḥ ||
Translation
The Deity said: I am time grown great, the destroyer of the worlds, here engaged in gathering the worlds in. Even without you, all these warriors arrayed in the hostile armies will not survive.

The Deity said: I am time grown great, the destroyer of the worlds, here engaged in gathering the worlds in. Even without you, none of these warriors arrayed in the hostile armies will survive. Kalo asmi loka-kshaya-krit pravriddho. The answer is the verse the chapter has been moving toward since 11.1. Krishna names Himself as kala, time, the principle that takes everything back. Pravriddho, grown great, swollen, at full reach. Loka-samahartum pravrittah, here to gather the worlds in. The phrasing closes the circle that began with Aham sarvasya prabhavah, I am the source of all, in chapter ten. The same source is the same destination. The warriors Arjuna is grieving over are already inside this gathering. His fighting will not start their end. The end is already underway.
