Bhagavad Gita 15.8
शरीरं यदवाप्नोति यच्चाप्युत्क्रामतीश्वरः । गृहीत्वैतानि संयाति वायुर्गन्धानिवाशयात् ॥
śarīraṁ yad avāpnoti yac cāpy utkrāmatīśvaraḥ | gṛhītvaitāni saṁyāti vāyur gandhān ivāśayāt ||
Translation
When the lord takes a body and when he leaves it, taking these along he goes, as the wind takes scents from their resting-place.

What fear of ending eases when I notice scent and petal as separate?

Image of moving house. Lord here is the embodied jiva-self, ishvara within its own circuit. Entering or leaving any body, it carries the six-pack of mind-and-senses with it, not the flesh. Comparison is exact: wind passes a flower and lifts the scent without lifting the petals. Death is not the senses dying. Death is the senses moving, the same set, on. Verse quietly reframes mortality. Heart fears the petals will be lost. Krishna says the scent travels. Bewilderment is mostly about confusing the two. Practice today is to notice scent and petal as different layers of what is happening.
