Bhagavad Gita 18.29
बुद्धेर्भेदं धृतेश्चैव गुणतस्त्रिविधं शृणु । प्रोच्यमानमशेषेण पृथक्त्वेन धनञ्जय ॥
buddher bhedaṃ dhṛteś caiva guṇatas tri-vidhaṃ śṛṇu / procyamānam aśeṣeṇa pṛthaktvena dhanañ-jaya
Translation
Hear of the threefold distinction of intellect and of steadiness according to the gunas, declared entirely and separately, O winner of wealth.

The diagnostic sweep continues. Buddhi, the discriminative intellect, and dhriti, the holding-power that sustains effort, will each now be given their three textures. Krishna is methodical. Knowledge was already covered, action was covered, the doer was covered. The interior faculties that produce the doer, the intellect that decides and the steadiness that follows through, get their turn. Asheshena prithaktvena, fully and distinctly, the promise of completeness. Notice the cumulative effect. By the time these triads are all named, the student has a full schematic for diagnosing any moral or practical situation, his own decisions included.
