Bhagavad Gita 6.40
श्रीभगवानुवाच | पार्थ नैवेह नामुत्र विनाशस्तस्य विद्यते | न हि कल्याणकृत्कश्चिद्दुर्गतिं तात गच्छति ||
śrī-bhagavān uvāca | pārtha naiveha nāmutra vināśas tasya vidyate | na hi kalyāṇa-kṛt kaścid durgatiṁ tāta gacchati ||
Translation
The Deity said: O son of Pṛthā! there is no destruction for him either in this or the next world; for, O my friend! nobody who performs good deeds comes to an evil end.

What good you have done quietly are you still secretly afraid will not be counted?
Read this verse in its chapter: Chapter Six
The reassurance is immediate. The half-finished yogi is not destroyed, here or hereafter. Then the principle behind the reassurance is given as a wide statement, almost a guarantee. Nobody who does good comes to an evil end. The verse is offered to Arjuna as a son might be reassured by a father. The note of fondness in the address matters. It signals that the question, with all its fear, has been heard kindly. Krishna does not lecture Arjuna for the doubt. He answers it. And the answer is wider than the question. The good a man does is never lost. The accounting is reliable.
