Bhagavad Gita 7.16
चतुर्विधा भजन्ते मां जनाः सुकृतिनोऽर्जुन | आर्तो जिज्ञासुरर्थार्थी ज्ञानी च भरतर्षभ ||
catur-vidhā bhajante māṁ janāḥ sukṛtino'rjuna | ārto jijñāsur arthārthī jñānī ca bharatarṣabha ||
Translation
Four kinds of well-doing men worship me, O Arjuna: the distressed, the seeker after knowledge, the seeker after wealth, and the man of knowledge, O chief of the Bharatas.

Which of the four describes you most days, and which would you like to grow into?
Read this verse in its chapter: Chapter Seven
Now the four who do come. The distressed, who turn when life breaks them open. The seeker after wealth, who turns hoping for gain. The seeker after knowledge, who turns wanting to understand. The man who already knows, who turns because it is his nature. All four are called sukrtinah, well-doing men. None of the four are dismissed. Krishna does not say only the highest motive is acceptable. The mother who prays under fear, the man who prays for the harvest, the student bent over a text, the jnani in steady devotion, all four are welcomed. The motive does not have to be pure for the turning to be real.
