Bhagavad Gita 7.22
स तया श्रद्धया युक्तस्तस्याराधनमीहते | लभते च ततः कामान्मयैव विहितान्हि तान् ||
sa tayā śraddhayā yuktas tasyārādhanam īhate | labhate ca tataḥ kāmān mayaiva vihitān hi tān ||
Translation
Possessed of that faith, he engages in the worship of that form, and obtains from it those desires; they being indeed bestowed by me alone.
Reflection
A prayer that was answered, what shifts if you trace the gift past the form you addressed?
Read this verse in its chapter: Chapter Seven
With that faith made firm, the worshipper engages, and obtains what he asked for. The gift comes, but the line at the end is what matters. Bestowed by Me alone. The worshipper thinks the deity gave it. Krishna says the deity was the form, the gift was His. Underneath every answered prayer to whatever altar, He is the one answering. The man who got the job he prayed for, the child who recovered from the fever, the rain that came, the source is one even when the address was many. The world keeps thanking the messengers. The verse points past them.
