Bhagavad Gita 1.26
तत्रापश्यत्स्थितान्पार्थः पितॄनथ पितामहान् । आचार्यान्मातुलान्भ्रातॄन्पुत्रान्पौत्रान्सखींस्तथा ॥
tatrāpaśyat sthitān pārthaḥ pitṝn atha pitāmahān | ācāryān mātulān bhrātṝn putrān pautrān sakhīṃs tathā ||
Translation
There Partha saw stationed fathers, then grandfathers, teachers, maternal uncles, brothers, sons, grandsons, and friends also.

The relational web in nine nouns. Pitṛn, fathers, plural, the elders who raised him. Pitāmahān, grandfathers. Ācāryān, teachers, including Drona. Mātulān, uncles on the mother's side. The list does not name individuals; it names roles. Every man across the field is now described by what he is to Arjuna. The categorical view from a minute ago has been replaced by a category of a different kind: not those who oppose, but those who raised, taught, were born of, befriended me.
