Bhagavad Gita 10.12
अर्जुन उवाच | परं ब्रह्म परं धाम पवित्रं परमं भवान् | पुरुषं शाश्वतं दिव्यमादिदेवमजं विभुम् ||
arjuna uvāca | paraṁ brahma paraṁ dhāma pavitraṁ paramaṁ bhavān | puruṣaṁ śāśvataṁ divyam ādi-devam ajaṁ vibhum ||
Translation
Arjuna said: You are the supreme Brahman, the supreme abode, the highest purifier. You are the eternal divine person, the first deity, unborn, all-pervading.

Arjuna takes his turn. He addresses Krishna in a sequence of formal names that match the earlier teaching point for point. Param brahma, the supreme Brahman. Param dhama, the supreme abode. Pavitram paramam, the highest purifier. Then a second cluster. Purusham shashvatam, the eternal person. Divyam, divine. Adi-devam, the first deity. Ajam, unborn. Vibhum, all-pervading. The student has heard the chapters and is now returning the teaching in his own words. The verse is not flattery. It is the form a faithful student's response takes once the doctrine has been delivered properly. He names the teacher in the terms the teacher has used. The next verses will continue this naming before Arjuna asks for the catalogue he is now ready to receive.
