Chapter 18Verse 72 of 78

Bhagavad Gita 18.72

कच्चिदेतच्छ्रुतं पार्थ त्वयैकाग्रेण चेतसा । कच्चिदज्ञानसम्मोहः प्रणष्टस्ते धनञ्जय ॥

kaccid etac chrutaṃ pārtha tvayaikāgreṇa cetasā / kaccid ajñāna-sammohaḥ praṇaṣṭas te dhanañ-jaya

Translation

Has this been heard by you, Partha, with one-pointed mind? Has the delusion of ignorance been destroyed for you, Dhananjaya?

The teacher's check-in. After all eighteen chapters, Krishna asks the simple, courteous question. Did you receive it. Has the original delusion that brought us here, the moha of chapter one, dissolved. Notice the address. Partha first, Dhananjaya second, both lineage and personal names. Krishna respects the student enough to ask rather than assume. This is also the model for any teacher worth following. After teaching, check; after explanation, listen. The answer comes in the next verse, and it is direct and complete. The student's response will close the conversation between them. The frame conversation between Sanjaya and Dhritarashtra will close the chapter.

Reflection

If Krishna asked you Arjuna's question right now, what would your honest answer be?
