Bhagavad Gita 2.8
न हि प्रपश्यामि ममापनुद्याद् यच्छोकमुच्छोषणमिन्द्रियाणाम् । अवाप्य भूमावसपत्नमृद्धं राज्यं सुराणामपि चाधिपत्यम् ॥
na hi prapaśyāmi mamāpanudyād yac chokam ucchoṣaṇam indriyāṇām | avāpya bhūmāv asapatnam ṛddhaṃ rājyaṃ surāṇām api cādhipatyam ||
Translation
For I do not see what will dispel my grief, which dries up my senses, even if I obtain a prosperous and unrivalled kingdom on earth, or even the sovereignty of the gods.

What prize have you been offered that would not actually fix the thing?
Read this verse in its chapter: Chapter Two
Arjuna names what nothing can fix. Śokam ucchoṣaṇam indriyāṇām. Grief that dries up the senses. Even a kingdom won't reach it. Even the lordship of the gods. The hyperbole is doing real work: he is telling Krishna that the usual prizes are off the table. He is not asking for a tactic. He is asking for a sentence that can survive the place he is in. Most teachers would offer the prize as a way through. Krishna will not, because Arjuna has just removed that exit himself.
