Bhagavad Gita 9.7
सर्वभूतानि कौन्तेय प्रकृतिं यान्ति मामिकाम् | कल्पक्षये पुनस्तानि कल्पादौ विसृजाम्यहम् ||
sarva-bhūtāni kaunteya prakṛtiṁ yānti māmikām | kalpa-kṣaye punas tāni kalpādau visṛjāmy aham ||
Translation
All beings, O son of Kuntī, return to my prakṛti at the end of a kalpa. At the beginning of the next, I send them forth again.

Read this verse in its chapter: Chapter Nine
The cosmic rhythm. At the end of a kalpa all beings return into Krishna's prakriti. At the start of the next they are sent out again. The breath of the universe goes in and goes out, and the agent of both motions is the same. The verse does what the previous chapter did in a smaller key. It places the listener's small life inside a much larger pulse and asks him to recognize that this large pulse is not impersonal. There is a will behind it. The reabsorption is not a catastrophe and the new emanation is not a fresh accident. Both belong to the same self-recurring activity of the one Krishna is now naming as the source.
