Chapter 7Verse 10 of 30

Bhagavad Gita 7.10

बीजं मां सर्वभूतानां विद्धि पार्थ सनातनम् | बुद्धिर्बुद्धिमतामस्मि तेजस्तेजस्विनामहम् ||

bījaṁ māṁ sarva-bhūtānāṁ viddhi pārtha sanātanam | buddhir buddhimatām asmi tejas tejasvinām aham ||

Translation

Know me, O son of Pṛthā, to be the eternal seed of all things. I am the intelligence of the intelligent, the glory of the glorious.

The pivot widens. Not only essence in elements, but the seed of all beings. The intelligence behind every intelligent act. The glory by which the glorious shine. He is moving from the cool taste of water to the inner fire of the human being. The man who built the bridge, the woman who steadied the room, the child who saw the trick, the quickness that came up in them was not theirs by themselves. It came up through them. The verse is not flattering the heroic. It is dissolving the private ownership of the gift. Whatever quickness ever flashed through a man, the source is the same.

Reflection

A gift you took private credit for, how does it feel held differently?
